Fuelling the community for 65 years

The 2019 Club Legend Sports Award program is just one way the Geelong Refinery supports our local community.

Fuelling good deeds

We encourage our people to volunteer and help raise funds for our
community partners during Good Deeds Week, and match whatever
they raise to double their donation.

Fuelling future AFL stars

We’re proud to sponsor the Geelong Cats Next Generation
Academy, which aims to increase AFL participation within the
indigenous and multi-cultural population of Geelong.

Fuelling women in sport

We’re proud to support the Geelong Cats AFLW team, helping to
promote female participation in the AFL with ongoing
sponsorship.

Fuelling science education

We're a sponsor of Science Alive! the largest interactive and educational science exhibition for kids of all ages in Australia.

Fuelling a sustainable future

We recycle, reuse or repurpose most of our waste at the Geelong Refinery. The native trees we planted around the refinery are thriving on compost made from one waste product.

Fuelling safety

Every day at the Viva Energy Geelong Refinery, we’re investing in the
safety of our people, our community and the local environment. It’s
our number one priority.

Fuelling young careers

Apprenticeships at the refinery provide young people with valuable
skills training and job opportunities that they may not have found
anywhere else.

Fuelling manufacturing

700 people work to help us supply over 50 percent of Victoria’s fuel.
We also produce jet fuel and Avgas, bitumen for roads and solvents
for Australian industries.

Help where it’s needed

We’re committed to giving back to our local communities through our Community Program, which focuses on the issues of mental health, Indigenous participation and substance misuse.

Our Community Program supports a range of projects in the Geelong area and includes partnerships with local organisations such as headspace (the National Youth Mental Health Foundation), Northern Futures, the Cathy Freeman Foundation and the Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Programs (CAAPS).

We also provide grants to support local role models and create simple and inspiring ways for our people to contribute to positive social change.
